Living with FOP means just that – living! People with FOP want to learn, study and have a career like everyone else.

There is no evidence that FOP affects intelligence, and many children and young people enjoy going to school with their friends (well, as much as any kid likes going to school!).  Our young people do well with their studies and go on to higher education and beyond.

While FOP is likely to bring with it a number of additional challenges and considerations, people with FOP can and do go on to have successful careers.

Rare4Schools is a compassion-first organisation dedicated to supporting schools to better understand and include children with rare diseases, ensuring they have equal access to learning.

With approximately 2.7 million children affected by rare diseases in the UK, many families are struggling to find support in an education system often unaware of these conditions. R4S aims to reduce the isolation felt by these children and ease parental anxiety by providing a Rare Disease Framework, a practical toolkit, and by advocating for families.
